The 1977 Castro Street Fair
The following pictures ware taken at the 1975 through 1979 Castro Street Fairs.
An unknown street artist (no pun intended) spent the afternoon of the 1979 fair creating the life-size drawing, above, right, using color chalk on the pavement in the intersection of 18th and Castro.
The man on the left is Keith, better known as Pristine Condition, a member of the COCKETTES and later, the ANGELS OF LIGHT. Both rag-tag drag groups performed outrageous in-your-face street theater of the absurd. The handsome youth on the right is sitting on the roof of a newspaper stand on the sidewalk in front of Star Pharmacy (now Walgreens).
