The Reverend Ray Broshears, a Gay Liberation activist, makes a point in a sidewalk discussion in front of Toad Hall on Castro. I don't know the source of his title "Reverand", but I do know that his activist and personal activities often angered others involved in gay activism. In protest in 1973, Broshears staged his own Gay Freedom Day event in competition with the official event. As a result, the Pride Foundation was formed to coordinate future events.
