This picture comes from a poster that Scott Smith put together. The caption underneath read, "HE SORT OF SMIRKED AT ME , , , ", from Dan White's confession, describing the moment before he shot Harvey Milk.

This picture "NOW" and its companion picture "Save Our Rights", by photographer Jerry Pritikin, were taken on "Orange Tuesday" at the protest march and rally following our defeat in Miami by Anita Bryant and her "Save Our Children" campaign.

This picture of Harvey in a clown suit came from a poster announcing Harvey's Birthday party on Castro Street, Tuesday evening, May 22nd, 1979. Harvey loved theater and circus and considered both to be relevant to politics. The photographer is Daniel Nicoletta.

Harvey with Dennis Peron, circa 1977. Peron has been a Marijuana activist and a leader in the fight for legal Medical Marijuana. In the 1970's he operated the ISLAND, a restaurant on the corner of 16th and Sanchez which Harvey used for several campaign speeches.
